Pollensa's patron saint festivities are one of the most famous and spectacular in Mallorca. They are celebrated from July 26 to August 2. During these dates Pollença receives a large crowd of visitors. On August 2, the closing day, thousands of people gather to commemorate the battle of 1550 in which the Christians led by Juan Mas defeated the pirates of Dragut.
